About Ann Wolford River
Edge Park:
Ann Wolford River Edge Park is named in honor of Ann Wolford for her accomplishments
and foresight as the Chair of Skagit County Parks and Recreation Commission
from 1964 to 1970. The park is located near what the locals call Nichols Bar.
The area is popular for fishing because of its relatively easy access to the
river. The property was purchased by the Skagit Land Trust and later transferred
to Skagit County Parks and Recreation for use as a park in 2009.
In 2011, Skagit County received a Salmon Recovery Funding Board grant to complete
a restoration project within the park. As part of the project, invasive plant
species have been removed and native trees and shrubs are to be planted in
their place. The goal of the restoration is to improve riparian habitat in
the area.
