Potential Samish Island Road Flooding could block access to Samish Island
With the recent heavy rainfall, there is a high likelihood that as the Samish River crest travels to the river delta flooding will occur on Samish Island Road. This could cut off Samish Island residents from the mainland.
The Skagit County Emergency Operations Center is recommending that Samish Island Residents consider evacuating off Samish Island or plan to shelter in place until the water level recedes.
For those who need emergency shelter, the Red Cross is operating shelters at Bethany Covenant Church (1318 S. 18th Street, Mount Vernon, WA 98273) and Hamilton First Baptist Church (797 Hamilton Cemetery Rd, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284). Please take caution when driving. Do not drive through water on the roadway. #TurnAroundDon'tDrown
