ANDERSON APPOINTED TO NACO HOMELAND SECURITY TASK FORCE
SKAGIT COUNTY Skagit County Commissioner Ted Anderson was recently appointed to the Homeland Security Task Force for the National Association of Counties (NACo) by President Bill Hansell. Since September 11, Skagit County like all counties has had to improve our level of preparedness for potential biological, chemical and nuclear attacks, said Anderson. This takes a great deal of planning and coordination at the local level.
Anderson also serves as chair of the Public Lands Steering Committee for NACo. This committee addresses all matters relating to federally owned lands. Skagit County has 538,817 acres of federally owned land and received $999,776 in Payment In Lieu of Taxes (PILT) funds in 2004 for County roads and the general fund.
He is also a member of NACos Sustainability Leadership Team, a group dedicated to researching county-level sustainable development initiatives and making that information available to other counties and interested organizations.
