Debris Removal Guidance for Skagit County Residents

Skagit County residents affected by recent flooding can begin to dispose of debris on Saturday, November 20 at the Skagit County Recycling and Transfer Station, located at 14104 Ovenell Road in Mount Vernon. The site operates Monday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; closed on Thanksgiving Day.

The following debris types will be accepted at this site:

  • Construction debris
  • Demolition debris
  • Appliances
  • Household debris
  • Household hazardous waste will only be accepted Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at this location. For a list of household hazardous waste examples, visit here.

    Residents may utilize disposal services at the Skagit County Recycling and Transfer Station free of cost, at this time. Please note that only flood-related debris will be accepted at no cost. For all other debris, please refer to the Solid Waste Rate Schedule.

    Those looking to dispose of organic waste are asked to go to Skagit Soil, located at 13260 Ball Road in Mount Vernon, Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    Individual dumpsters will not be provided by the County. Those wishing to rent a dumpster can contact Waste Management at 1-800-592-9995 or can follow up with the city in which the resident resides.
