NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ISSUES FLOOD WATCH FOR SKAGIT COUNTY

Wednesday, November 24, 2004 (3:00 P.M.)

SKAGIT COUNTY The National Weather Service ( NWS) has issued a flood watch for Skagit County . A flood watch means that flooding is possible not certain. NWS forecasted earlier today the Skagit River to crest at Concrete at below 30 feet, 2 feet over flood stage at 10:00 a.m., Thursday morning. The forecast for Mount Vernon is 27.8, just below flood stage, at 4:00 a.m. Friday morning. The peak flows are forecast to subside quickly.

NWS indicates that if flooding does occur, it will likely be relatively minor.

Currently there are no road closures in Skagit County but some water on roadways in rural areas related to drainage issues. Skagit County Public Works and Department of Emergency Management staff will be monitoring conditions throughout the holiday weekend
