Welcome to Skagit County
November 25, 2002 2002 Growth Management Indicators Report for Skagit County will be issued on Wednesday, November 27, 2002. Skagit County is pleased to announce that the 2002 Growth Management Indicators Report for Skagit County will be issued on Wednesday, November 27, 2002. As required by the 2000 Skagit County Comprehensive Plan, the Growth Management Indicators Report has been developed to monitor the County's level of success in implementing the Comprehensive Plan. Specifically, the Report seeks to: (1) analyze land use development trends, and (2) evaluate Comprehensive Plan policy implementation. The purpose of the Growth Management Indicators program is to provide the Skagit County Board of Commissioners and the public with a method for evaluating the County's progress towards successfully implementing the Comprehensive Plan and by helping to assure governmental accountability to the citizens of Skagit County. The information developed through the Growth Management Indicators program will be used to assess whether the Plan's objectives are being realized, or are being attained too slowly. With this information, the Board of County Commissioners and the public will be able to determine whether scarce public resources should be reprioritized, or policies and regulations modified, in order to successfully implement the Plan. The Skagit County Planning and Permit Center will host a public Open House to present the findings of the 2002 Growth Management Indicators Report on Thursday, December 12, 2002, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in Hearing Room B/C, Skagit County Administration Building, Mount Vernon, WA. Copies of the
2002 Growth Management Indicators Report may be reviewed at the Skagit
County Planning and Permit Center at the address listed below. Additionally,
the Report is available electronically at www.skagitcounty.net. Reference
copies have also been sent to public libraries within the County.
