Mobile Cleaning Business Workshop to Prevent Stormwater Pollution
SKAGIT COUNTY - Mobile cleaning business operators are invited to participate in a free Stormwater University workshop to learn how to prevent water pollution. Skagit County is a partner in the City of Bellingham's Stormwater University workshop series funded by a Department of Ecology grant and presented by RE Sources for Sustainable Communities, a non-profit sustainability organization.
Mobile cleaning businesses typically include pressure washing, carpet cleaning, pet grooming, window washing, and janitorial services. These businesses have the potential to discharge polluted stormwater. Participants will learn why stormwater pollution is a problem, the difference between stormwater and wastewater, easy steps to prevent pollution, and how to report spills. Workshops will also include an outdoor demonstration of best management practices in action at a nearby site. See the attached flyer, "Preventing Water Pollution -- Tips for Mobile Cleaning Businesses." Refreshments will be provided for attendees.
The workshop will be held at the Burlington City Library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 13th (820 East Washington Avenue, Burlington WA). Attendees are asked to pre-register with RE Sources at leef@re-sources.org or (360) 733-8307.
