Flu Clinic Scheduled for High Risk Persons
The Skagit County Public Health Department has received 1200 doses of flu vaccine and will be holding a flu clinic for high risk persons on Thursday, December 9, 2004 from 8am to 3pm at the Skagit County Fairgrounds in Mount Vernon.
Doses of vaccine will be given on a first come, first serve basis and will be given only to high risk people. High risk people who will be vaccinated include:
- Adults 65 years and older;
- People 2-64 years old with underlying chronic medical conditions;
- Women who will be pregnant during the flu season (December - April);
- Residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities;
- Health care workers involved in direct patient care contact and over 49 years old;
- Out-of-home caregivers and household contacts over 49 who have or care for children aged less than 6 months of age. (Those under 50 who are healthy are eligible for Flu Mist at the Health Department.)
Cost will be $20.00. Medicare, Medicaid and Group Health cards will be accepted.
Please enter the south gate of the fairgrounds. To get there, follow Cleveland St., turn west on Taylor St. You will be directed to parking from there. Be prepared to remain in your vehicle until further instructed (may be several hours). Taylor Street is one “long” block south of the Mount Vernon Senior Center.
All healthy people should consider vaccination with Flu Mist, which is currently available for healthy people 5-49 years of age at the Health Department on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8am-4pm.
