PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Skagit County is seeking the assistance of a Citizens Advisory Committee
(CAC) to serve in an advisory role in the preparation of the Fidalgo
Island Subarea Plan. A subarea plan is described as integrated and
collaborative planning process that enables local issues and needs
to be addressed within a smaller geographical area of the County.
Subarea planning is a community-based planning process that seeks
to preserve and build community character while assuring sensible
growth and development. The subarea planning process is expected to
take at least two years. The CAC will assist Skagit County and work
with a selected consultant in preparing a scope of work; defining
project goals and objectives; review existing literature, studies
and reports; formulating land use alternatives; and, drafting a subarea
plan and accompanying development regulations. The CAC will include
9 members and appointments are made by the Board of County Commissioners.
Citizens with knowledge and/or experience in comprehensive planning,
growth management, environmental review and processes, community development
or other related interests are encouraged to submit a letter of interest
along with a statement of qualifications by 4:30 p.m., January 3,
2003, to:
