SKAGIT COUNTY - The Skagit County Board of Commissioners will sign a proclamation honoring Washington State Senator Mary Margaret Haugen on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' Hearing Room.

Senator Haugen has served the 10th District since 1983, first in the House of Representatives. She was elected as State Senator in 1993. Her term expires in January 2013.
Skagit County Commissioner Sharon Dillon said "We very much appreciate all the years of service

Senator Haugen has given to her constituents here in Skagit County. When County government sought help in funding projects, Mary Margaret made things happen."
"Mary Margaret has been a true friend of Skagit County for many, many years," said Commissioner Ken Dahlstedt. "She will be sorely missed, not only by her constituents locally, but throughout the State."

Commissioner Sharon Dillon added "Working with Mary Margaret through the years has not only been a pleasure, but her decisions have always been beneficial for Skagit County. I will miss working with her."

Senator Haugen currently serves as the Senate Chair for the Transportation Committee and has led the charge for a number of significant projects in Skagit County. She also has been a champion of farmland preservation in Skagit County.
