Skagit County Commissioners to honor Washington State Senator Mary Margaret Haugen with Proclamation
SKAGIT COUNTY - The Skagit County Board of Commissioners will sign a proclamation
honoring Washington State Senator Mary Margaret Haugen on Tuesday, December
18, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' Hearing Room.
Senator Haugen has served the 10th District since 1983, first in the House
of Representatives. She was elected as State Senator in 1993. Her term expires
in January 2013.
Skagit County Commissioner Sharon Dillon said "We very much appreciate
all the years of service
Senator Haugen has given to her constituents here in Skagit County. When
County government sought help in funding projects, Mary Margaret made things
happen."
"Mary Margaret has been a true friend of Skagit County for many, many
years," said Commissioner Ken Dahlstedt. "She will be sorely missed,
not only by her constituents locally, but throughout the State."
Commissioner Sharon Dillon added "Working with Mary Margaret through
the years has not only been a pleasure, but her decisions have always been
beneficial for Skagit County. I will miss working with her."
Senator Haugen currently serves as the Senate Chair for the Transportation
Committee and has led the charge for a number of significant projects in
Skagit County. She also has been a champion of farmland preservation in
Skagit County.
