SKAGIT RIVER IS ON FLOOD WATCH

SKAGIT COUNTY - The National Weather Service has continued the flood watch for the Skagit River. The current forecast (updated at 11:44 am today) predicts the river to go over flood stage at Concrete (28 ft) by 10 pm Friday, with a predicted peak of 35 ft at 10 am Saturday. For Mount Vernon, the current prediction is for a peak of 31.6 ft at 4 am Sunday morning. This is a significant increase from the last forecast. Flood stage in Mount Vernon is also 28 ft.

  • Skagit at Concrete 22.8'
  • Skagit at Mt. Vernon 17.5
  • Sauk at Sauk 9.3
  • Samish near Burlington 8.1

Currently there are no road closures in Skagit County but there may be some water on roadways in rural areas related to drainage issues. Skagit County Public Works and Department of Emergency Management staff will be monitoring conditions through the weekend.

The public is advised to not drive through standing water on roadways and obey “closed road” signs.

On the Samish River and tributaries, residents are advised to keep a close watch on possible flood waters. For those who may need sandbags, please contact your local fire department.
