Commissioners Extend Deadline For Taxpayer Property Tax Petitions
SKAGIT COUNTY The Skagit County Board of Commissioners signed a resolution today to extend the deadline for taxpayer property tax petitions to the Skagit County Board of Equalization from 30 days to 60 days. With the extension, property owners now have to January 8, 2009 to file petitions.
Landowners have a right under state law, RCW 84.48 to petition the Skagit County Board of Equalization for an adjustment of their propertys valuation to the extent such valuation does not reflect fair market value.
The resolution stated, The Skagit County Board of Commissioners believes that property owners in Skagit County should be afforded all possible deference, notice, and opportunity to be heard concerning the valuation of their property for the purposes of taxation, to the fullest extent permissible under state law.
