Road closures at Cape Horn
and Martin Road
SKAGIT COUNTY - The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for
the Skagit River. The current forecast predicts the river to peak at Concrete
at 33.6 feet at 10 am Saturday. For Mount Vernon, the current prediction is
for a peak of 31.6 feet at 10 p.m. Saturday evening. Flood stage in Concrete
and Mount Vernon is 28 ft.
North Shore Drive in Cape Horn is closed due to a downed power pole. Martin
Road between State Route 530 and Rockport Cascade Road is closed. Water is over
the roadway on the South Skagit Highway on both sides of Mill Creek and on Minkler
Road on both sides of Coal Creek.

There may be some water on roadways in rural areas related to drainage issues.
Skagit County Public Works and Department of Emergency Management staff will
be monitoring conditions through the evening.
The public is advised to not drive through standing water on roadways and obey
closed road signs.
On the Samish River and tributaries, residents are advised to keep a close watch
on possible flood waters. For those who may need sandbags, please contact your
local fire department.
County and other officials and work crews continue to monitor the situation closely and take appropriate actions as necessary. Additional news releases will be issued as new information warrants.
