GUEMES ISLAND FERRY BREAKS LOOSE DURING WIND STORM, OUT OF SERVICE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
SKAGIT COUNTY The Guemes Island Ferry broke loose from its moorings early this morning under extreme weather conditions and drifted down Guemes Channel To Curtis Wharf. Skagit County Public Works crews retrieved the vessel and returned it to its slip.
Initial inspections showed no damage, but a United Coast Guard diver will make an inspection later today, weather permitting, to inspect the hull and the out drives. Passenger only service will be arranged later today weather permitting.
