SKAGIT COUNTY SOLID WASTE TRANSFER STATIONS AT SAUK AND CLEAR LAKE INCLUDED IN PROPOSED SOLID WASTE MASTER PLAN
SKAGIT COUNTY – In response to petitions and rumors circulating in the community, the Skagit County Commissioners office announced today that there are no present or future plans to close either site.
“We continue to look at efficiencies in our system, but in no way would we consider the closure of either of these sites,” said Skagit County Commissioner Ted Anderson. “We are strongly committed to keeping our rural areas free of trash, both through these two stations, as well as our litter program that keeps our rural byways in Skagit County clean.”
Skagit County’s Solid Waste Division and the Sheriff’s office work together with offenders from the County jail to remove litter from public places. Since 1998, the program has cleaned up more than 1,700 illegal dump sites and removed more than 1.75 million pounds of trash.
Skagit County is currently reviewing revisions to their Solid Waste Management Plan.
