COMMISSIONERS SIGN RESOLUTION NAMING EAST COUNTY RESOURCE CENTER IN HONOR OF COMMISSIONER TED W. ANDERSON

SKAGIT COUNTY – Skagit County Commissioners Don Munks and Ken Dahlstedt didn’t think it was enough just to present Commissioner Ted W. Anderson a gold-plated gavel for his 12-years of service to Skagit County. Today, in regular session they surprised Anderson by signing a resolution renaming the East County Resource Center the “Ted W. Anderson East County Resource Center.”

“Just a gold gavel isn’t enough,” said Munks before he read the resolution officially renaming the facility that was completed in 2003 to house Skagit County Upriver Services, Upper Skagit Library District, and meeting rooms for public events. The 4,400 square foot facility was a collaborative effort that proceeded under Anderson’s leadership. The $1,247,350 project was funded by a $940,500 State of Washington Community Trade and Economic Development Grant and Community Development Block Grant. Skagit County contributed $291,600 to the project, with the Town of Concrete contributing $15,200.

“I never expected anything like this,” said Anderson, wiping a tear from his eye. “It’s certainly been honor to represent the people of District 3, and all of the people of Skagit County.”

Dahltstedt thanked Anderson mentioning many projects in East Skagit County including the new Main Street Project in Concrete, Cook Road, and the restoration of the Henry Thompson Bridge.

Economic Development of Skagit County Executive Director Don Wick related his many positive experiences working with Anderson specifically his work in keeping Job Corps in Skagit County. “From your heart you have a deep and imbibing passion,” said Wick.

An official ceremony will be scheduled in 2007 to celebrate the renaming.
