SKAGIT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS HONOR PHIL JENNINGS FOR 10 YEARS OF SERVICE ON BOARD OF EQUALIZATION

SKAGIT COUNTY – The Skagit County Board of Commissioners today honored Phil Jennings in recognition of 10 years of dedicated service as a Skagit County Board of Equalization member. The Board of Equalization is established by state constitution and laws, and has the responsibility to determine whether the assessed value of property represents 100 percent of the property's fair market value. The board considers questions of valuation and equalization of property assessments, not levy rates or the overall dollar amount of taxes due.
It is a quasi-judicial body that provides an impartial citizen forum for property owners with the appeal process regarding disputes in their valuation assessment placed on their property by the county assessor.
“There are a few jobs in Skagit County that are harder, but not many,” said Skagit County Commissioner Don Munks.
