Skagit County Fish Passage Project

Featured Project
Concrete-Sauk Valley Road at Aldon Creek

Watershed:
Tributary to the Skagit River (WRIA 04.0659)

Benefits:
  • Provides access to high quality stream habitat for several species of salmon and trout
  • Increases salmon productivity
  • Provides access to a ¾-acre habitat pond

Description:

This project will replace the existing culvert with a 12-foot diameter culvert with a stream channel constructed upstream, downstream and through the culvert, allowing for fish passage while maintaining the minimum flood flow capacity needed. Due to gradient changes, grade control with log weirs and other channel reconstruction techniques will be necessary for the 200 feet of alignment change upstream of the proposed culvert entrance.

Cost: $358,000

Revenue: Skagit County Road Fund

Partners: Skagit County

Completion Date: October 2001
