Filing for Office in 2026

Candidate filing week is May 4 – 8

Last day to withdraw from office is Monday May 11th

Special 3-day filing – if no one files for a position during filing week, Skagit County will hold a special 3-day filing period.

Online Candidate Filing Portal

The online filing button will be available starting May 4th.

Note:
-Candidates are required to provide an email address when filing
-ALL communication with candidates is done via email

Candidate Filing will open at 8 am May 4 and close at 5 pm May 8

• Submit your filing before 5 p.m. Friday. No submissions will be accepted after 5 p.m.
• Mobile devices are not recommended.
• You can use a credit card to pay your filing fee.
• You must pay the filing fee before the filing office can process your submission.
• Please allow 24-48 hours for candidacy approval. You will receive a confirmation email at the candidate email address.

Mail

Mail Candidates who will be out of the area during the filing period can file by mail beginning Monday April 20, 2026 and ending at 5 pm on the last day of the regular filing period. Filings received through the mail before or after the prescribed time, regardless of postmark, are invalid and will be returned.
