Coroner: Hayley Thompson

Community Partner of the Year Award

award

LifeNet Health is proud to present Hayley Thompson and Skagit County Coroner’s Office with the Community Partner of the Year Award, in recognition of their outstanding collaboration to support the mission of tissue donation. This award is given to community partners that have made major improvements to their program and continue to embrace donation as an important issue within their community.

Since Hayley assumed the role of Skagit County Coroner, she and her staff have completely changed the culture of the office and have been adamant supporters of facilitating donation within the Skagit County community. Hayley said in an interview “I have realized as the Skagit County Coroner, that tissue donation is not a burden. It’s not an inconvenience for a coroner or Medical Examiner office. If anything, it is a great opportunity for us to be part of something much bigger.” Hayley and her staff have fully embraced this attitude. Through their efforts, ten individuals have been able to fulfill their final wishes of being a tissue donor, which previously would not have been given this option.

LifeNet Health is the only full service tissue bank in the Northwest and makes every effort to return allografts back to the community from which they were recovered. Thanks to Hayley and Skagit County Coroner’s Office, over 1500 allografts (including heart valves, skin grafts, bone grafts, tendons and veins) have been produced for surgeries throughout the Northwest. A huge thank you to Hayley and the entire Skagit County Coroner’s Office for their support of donation and helping LifeNet Health realize their mission of saving lives, restoring health and giving hope!
