CAR WASH KITS HELP KEEP OUR WATER CLEAN
There’s no problem with car washing. It’s just how and where it is done. The soap, dirt, and oil washed from cars flow into storm drains that run untreated into our local waters.
Car Wash Kits can be borrowed for community and charity car wash events!

Clean water is important to us all. In recent years stormwater has been identified as a major threat to quality of our local waters as well as the ecosystem health of Puget Sound. In an effort to help improve stormwater quality and ensure clean waters, Skagit County has partnered with the Skagit Conservation District, Skagit Marine Resources Committee, Northwest Straits, and the Washington Department of Ecology to obtain a Car Wash Kit that will be available for charity car wash events.

There’s no problem with car washing. It’s just how and where it is done. The soap, dirt, and oil washed from cars flow into storm drains that run untreated into our local waters. The phosphates and other chemicals in runoff harm fish, wildlife, plants, and water quality. The car wash kit captures wash water before it enters the stormwater system so that it can be directed to an appropriate place like a grassy area or into the sanitary sewer system.
