Description
Content Summary: The
Commissioner District data set is intended to depict all county commissioner
districts as they are currently described by Skagit County Resolution #R20020201.
Commissioner Districts are changed every ten years based on the most recent
federal decennial census to assure approximately equal population distribution
and equal voter representation for County residents. The current boundaries
follow voting precincts.
Content Purpose: The Skagit County Commissioner District data set was developed to provide
county employees and the public a view of the commissioner district boundaries
in relation to County geographic features.
Supplemental Information: Population on the sub-county level during Census years is measured in
census units (block, block-group, census tracts). In the intercensal period,
the Office of Financial Management and some other organizations provide various
population estimates.
Legal descriptions for
each Commissioner District boundary were prepared by Skagit County GIS with
the oversight of the County Commissioners and Demographer.
