Content Description

Content Summary: The Skagit County Comprehensive Plan Map is a legal document and is considered part and parcel of the Skagit County Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan Map is intended to depict Urban Growth Areas, Rural Areas, Natural Resource Lands, and Open Space as described in the Skagit County Comprehensive Plan. Each of these areas may be further divided into land use designations. This data set includes the Skagit County Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map delineation and attributes, adopted by Skagit County Ordinance No. 17938 on July 24, 2000, or as thereafter amended. The data set includes those lands lying generally within Townships 33N through 36N, and Ranges 1E through16E, Willamette Meridian.

Content Purpose: The Skagit County Comprehensive Plan dataset was developed to provide County/City decision makers, the State Growth Management Hearings Board, and the public a view of the Comprehensive Plan boundaries in relation to County geographic features. The delineation includes:

Urban Growth Areas
Rural Areas
Natural Resource Lands
Open Space as described in the Skagit County Comprehensive Plan

Each of these areas may be further divided into land use designations. The Comprehensive Plan documentation can be purchased from the Skagit County Planning and Permit Center.

Supplemental Information: Comprehensive Plan Map amendments may be initiated by the County, or by other entities, organizations, or individuals through petitions. The boundaries separating land use designations are intended to be long-term and unchanging. Land use designations may be subject to minor refinements, but only after full public participation, notice, environmental review, an official assessment of planning growth management indicators, or as otherwise allowed by laws.
