WHAT: Skagit County Fairgrounds Call for Advisory Board Members

Three positions available.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the Fairgrounds Advisory Board is to provide year-round input in the planning, developing, organizing and operating of the Skagit County Fair Facility. The Board shall assist in the development of appropriate short and long-range planning programs for the Skagit County Fair & Facilities.
  • Membership: Members shall be residents of Skagit County who are interested in the fair facility as a whole and are able to be bi-partisan. Fair Superintendents shall not be members of the Fairgrounds Advisory Board. Fairgrounds Advisory Board members must attend eight (8) meetings per calendar year. If an Advisory Board member fails to attend eight meetings within any given year, said Board member may be dismissed from the Board.
  • Term: Fairgrounds Advisory Board members may serve two (2) consecutive four (4) year terms. At the end of two terms, the member must take a four (4) year term off. He or she may reapply after the four (4) year term hiatus.
  • Responsibilities: Advisory responsibilities to the Fairgrounds Manager and staff for the planning, organizing and operating of the Skagit County Fair & Facilities. Provide support for and attend at least three (3) out of four (4) days of the fair and provide support for other special events held at the fairgrounds. Assist in the evaluation of fairgrounds events and operations and recommend future actions. Advise on fair facility programs, financial needs and make recommendations to the Fairgrounds Manager for fair budget preparation. Promote positive public relations for the Skagit County Fair and facility. Meet with the County Commissioners at least once per year to review the goals and objectives of the Fairgrounds Advisory Board.
  • Meetings: The Fairgrounds Advisory Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month. Special meetings may be called at the request of the Fairgrounds Manager and/or Board Chair.
