Promissory Notes


After the screening process, a person is deemed INDIGENT AND ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE if he/she is unable to pay the anticipated cost of counsel for the matter before the court, because available funds are less than the anticipated cost of counsel, but sufficient for the person to pay a portion of that cost.

A person found INDIGENT AND ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE shall be required to execute a promissory note at the time counsel is appointed.

Online payments for public defender attorney fees for Skagit County Superior or District Court only, may be made through LexisNexis, a payment-processing center. A convenience fee will be charged to you by LexisNexis for this service.
