ANNUAL COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENTS

Proposed Changes to the Comprehensive Plan and Land Use and Zoning Map are now available
Posted 10/10/08

The Skagit County Comprehensive Plan is fully reviewed every 7 years, but interim changes may be considered annually. The Comprehensive Plan and Land-Use Map may only be amended once annually, and all amendment proposals must be considered together for the purpose of determining the combined, or cumulative, effects of the proposed changes.

Skagit County’s 2007 docket of proposed amendments to the Skagit County Comprehensive Plan and Land Use and Zoning Map is now available. The proposal consists of two citizen-initiated map-amendment proposals; nine county-initiated map-amendment proposals; the Alger subarea plan; and several county-initiated Comprehensive Plan text amendments.

The public is invited and encouraged to comment on this proposal. The public review and comment period will run through Tuesday, November 11, 2008. A public hearing on the proposal will be held in front of the Skagit County Planning Commission at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2008, in the Hearing Room of the Skagit County Commissioners Administrative Building. Following the hearing, the Planning Commission will meet again to deliberate upon the public testimony received, and formulate a report and recommendation to be forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners. The Planning Commission is currently scheduled to deliberate on November 25, 2008. For more information, please review the documents associated with this proposal.

Board of County Commissioners to Hold Public Hearing to Establish 2008 Docket of Comprehensive Plan Amendments

The Skagit County Comprehensive Plan is fully reviewed every 7 years, but interim changes may be considered annually. One of the first steps in that process is for the Board of County Commissioners (Board) to establish the annual docket (or list) of amendments that will receive further consideration through public, agency and environmental review, Planning Commission hearings, and possible adoption by the Board. The Board has scheduled a public hearing for applicants and members of the general public to comment on which amendment proposals submitted in 2008 should be placed on the 2008 docket for further review and consideration.
