Skagit County Sheriff
"Committed To Your Safety"
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH The Skagit County Sheriff's Office relies on our citizens to keep us apprised of neighborhood concerns. The Neighborhood Block Watch program is an integral part of keeping an open line of communication between the sheriff's office and individual neighborhoods to help with this process. Starting a Block Watch program in your neighborhood is easy and gives you the opportunity to meet your neighbors, share your concerns with each other and with the sheriff's office and it allows you and your neighbors to have an increased sense of ownership in what goes on in your neighborhood. Starting a block watch program and holding regular block watch meetings tells criminals that your neighborhood does not tolerate criminal activity. If you are interested in starting a block watch program a deputy will come meet with your neighborhood to put on a Block Watch Presentation on personal safety, teach you how to minimize your chances of becoming the victim of criminal activity, and will attempt to contact your block watch captain on a regular basis to keep him/her apprised of criminal activity in your neighborhood. In addition, the Sheriff's Office can assist your neighborhood in placing Block Watch signs within the area of your Block Watch program to alert potential criminals that you are a part of the Skagit County Neighborhood Block Watch Program (additional fees may apply for this service). The Skagit County Sheriff's Office offers the following tools and resources to assist Block Watch participants and the general public to stay informed and minimize the probability of becoming a victim of criminal activity. Sex Offender Registry - Locate sex offenders in and around your neighborhood, workplace, or school zones. Crime Map - The neighborhood crime mapping program allows citizens the ability to zoom in on their neighborhood, select types of criminal activity and view the number of events the Sheriff's Office has responded to over a user selected period of time starting with data from 2002 to the present. Methamphetamine/Drug Activity - Read valuable information to help you recognize drug related activity in your neighborhood and what you can do to help. Personal Safety Tips and Suggestions - Review personal safety tips and suggestions.
