The Skagit County Sheriff's Office SWAT/HRT team is responsible for responding to and defusing high risk incidents utilizing specialized skills and equipment. The HRT team is made up of approximately one dozen team members and one supervisor. Each team member has years of training and experience in law enforcement and high risk incident response.
In addition to utilizing specialized personal body armor, fire power, and visual and communications equipment, the HRT team utilizes two armored vehicles for transport to the scene and for cover while approaching dangerous situations.
The Skagit County Sheriff's Office SWAT/HRT team is put through hundreds of hours of training per year. In addition each SWAT/HRT team member is required to pass a special SWAT accredited academy where they hone their skills in firearms, building searches, defensive tactics and other such skills.
